this is considered as the most deadliest out of the seven cholera pandemics . this cholera outbreak lasted from 1852 to 1860. this cholera pandemic originated in india just like the first two pandemics .
it started to spread from the ganges river delta before tearing through asia ,europe ,north america and africa and ending the lives of over a million people . over 23,000 people died in britain alone .british physician john snow was able to identify the source of contamination .

this flu pandemic was called as the asiatic flu and also known as russian flu .the strain was first thought to be an outbreak of the influenza A virus subtype H2N2 . recent research have instead found the cause to be the influenza A subtype H3N8 .

8) SPANISH FLU :
one of the worst pandemic witnessed in human history . the spanish flu also known as the flu pandemic of 1918 infected over a third of the worlds population and ending the lives of 20 - 50 million people. of the 500 million people infected in the 1918 pandemic the mortality rate was estimated at 10 to 20 percentage with upto 25 million deaths in the first 25 weeks alone .
Most influenza outbreaks disproportionately kill the very young and the very old, with a higher survival rate for those in between, but the Spanish flu pandemic resulted in a higher than expected mortality rate for young adults.
The 1918 Spanish flu was the first of two pandemics caused by H1N1 influenza A virus; the second was the 2009 swine flu pandemic.

The pandemic has caused global social and economic disruption, including the largest global recession since the Great Depression. Up to 100 million people have fallen into extreme poverty . and global famines are affecting 265 million people. It has led to the postponement or cancellation of sporting, religious, political, and cultural events, widespread supply shortages exacerbated by panic buying and decreased emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases. Schools, universities, and colleges have been closed either on a nationwide or local basis in 161 countries, affecting approximately 98.6 percent of the world's student population. this pandemic has taught us a lot. we must be prepared to face situations like these in future.
